Kelly L. Olson, Administrator
Kelly Olson, a native of Idaho, received a
B.A.
in economics from the College of Idaho (Albertson College) and completed
graduate studies in resource economics and international relations.
She served as
legislative assistant for agricultural and trade issues in Washington, D.C.
from 1984 - 1987. Kelly returned home to develop the Idaho State Department of
Agriculture's first domestic and international marketing programs and served
as administrator of the ISDA Marketing Division from 1990-1994. She created trade missions and product promotions
throughout North America, Europe and Asia and was instrumental in opening
Idaho's Trade Office in Mexico.
Kelly has served as administrator
of the Idaho Barley Commission since July 1994. She helps direct research, market development,
policy and grower education programs for Idaho’s more than 4,000 barley
producers.
Olson is also an alumni of
Leadership Idaho Agriculture (LIA), and was a founding member of the
Idaho Minor Crop Alliance (now a committee of Food Producers of Idaho)
and the annual Idaho Ag Summit policy forum. She served as
secretary-treasurer of the National Barley Growers Association from
1995-1997 and remains a staff advisor to the NBGA Trade Committee.
